Global Premiere Date Announced

‘F1’ is set to make its global theatrical debut in collaboration with Warner Bros. Pictures on June 27, 2025.

Apple Original Films has confirmed that production for its feature film F1 has wrapped up, coinciding with the end of the 2024 Formula 1 season. The film was shot at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, with backing from the Creative Media Authority and the Abu Dhabi Film Commission. Directed by Joseph Kosinski (known for Top Gun: Maverick) and featuring Brad Pitt, the film will be released in IMAX and theaters across North America on June 27, 2025, with international screenings starting on June 25, 2025.

Exploring the World of Motorsport

F1 is a partnership with Formula 1, providing an in-depth look into the elite motorsport scene. The narrative follows Brad Pitt as a former F1 driver making a comeback, alongside Damson Idris, who portrays his teammate in the fictional APXGP team. The cast also includes Academy Award-winner Javier Bardem, Oscar-nominee Kerry Condon, Emmy Award-winner Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo.

Production Team and Support

The film is produced by Kosinski, seven-time Formula 1 champion Sir Lewis Hamilton under his Dawn Apollo Films banner, Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films, and Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment. The screenplay is penned by Ehren Kruger (Top Gun: Maverick), and the film integrates the entire F1 community, involving Formula 1 Management, teams, drivers, and the FIA.

Filming Locations and Local Impact

A significant portion of the filming occurred in Abu Dhabi, utilizing iconic sites such as the Yas Marina Circuit, Zayed International Airport, and twofour54 Studios at Yas Creative Hub. The cast, including Pitt, Idris, Bardem, and Condon, collaborated with an international production team, supported by a local crew of 284 and Epic Films. The Abu Dhabi Film Commission facilitated the production under its rebate program, which has aided 170 productions since 2013.

Statements from Officials

Mohamed Dobay, Acting Director General of Abu Dhabi’s Creative Media Authority, stated: “Our collective efforts and wise leadership continue to ensure that we secure such exciting partnerships with leading production teams like Apple Original Films. We look forward to showcasing Abu Dhabi’s iconic locations on the big screen and collaborating with Apple Original Films in the future.”

Sameer Al Jaberi, Head of Abu Dhabi Film Commission, added: “We were pleased to support the extensive production program, which saw the international crew and cast visiting the nation on three separate occasions, totaling 29 days of on-ground production. The project featured Emirati talent on-screen, and over 284 local crew members participated, including 15 young individuals who gained work placements on set, with five Emirati youth as part of our commitment to nurturing local talent in the creative industries.”
