The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) Takes Down Major Sports Piracy Ring

The recent crackdown on a significant live sports piracy operation in Vietnam has impacted all members of ACE, including its sports tier members such as beIN Sports, Canal+, and DAZN.

ACE, an anti-piracy coalition, has successfully dismantled a notorious sports piracy network that was widely accessed around the globe. Over the past year, the illicit websites associated with this operation recorded an astonishing 812 million visits, marking it as one of the largest sports piracy rings worldwide and the most extensive operation shut down by ACE to date. Among the sites taken down were well-known piracy targets like bestsolaris[dot]com, streameast[dot]to, markkystreams[dot]com, crackstreams[dot]dev, and weakspell[dot]to.

Following a thorough global investigation, ACE identified the operators based in Hanoi and successfully negotiated the immediate transfer of 138 domains to ACE.

Larissa Knapp, Executive Vice President and Chief Content Protection Officer for the Motion Picture Association (MPA), commented on the takedown: “The shutdown of this globally notorious live sports piracy ring is a significant victory in our ongoing battle against the piracy of live sports programs. This follows several recent successful actions by ACE and law enforcement in Vietnam. Live sports members of ACE face unique challenges with digital piracy, as the commercial value of live broadcasts diminishes once the event concludes. This takedown serves as a clear warning to piracy operators worldwide, particularly those involved in live sports piracy, that ACE is committed to identifying and dismantling their illegal activities.”

The operation primarily targeted audiences in the U.S. and Canada, streaming daily sports events, including content from all major U.S. sports leagues and various global leagues. The illicit activities had a detrimental effect on all ACE members, including beIN Sports, Canal+, and DAZN.

All the affected sites will now redirect users to the ACE ‘Watch Legally’ page.
