This program is dedicated to nurturing talent and providing awards that support films in post-production from Africa and the Middle East.
Submissions Now Open for Final Cut in Venice
La Biennale di Venezia is excited to announce that submissions are now open for the 13th edition of Final Cut in Venice. Mark your calendars—the deadline for project submissions is June 9, 2025.
Event Dates
The upcoming Final Cut in Venice will take place from August 31 to September 2, 2025, as part of the Venice Production Bridge during the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, which runs from August 27 to September 6, 2025, on the beautiful Lido di Venezia.
Supporting Emerging Filmmakers
Since its launch in 2013, the Final Cut in Venice program has been instrumental in aiding the completion of high-quality films from Africa and the Middle East, including countries like Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and Yemen. This initiative has become a vital platform for fostering emerging talent and gaining international recognition and accolades for films from these regions.
How to Participate
Filmmakers eager to participate should complete the online pre-selection entry form and submit all required materials by the June 9 deadline.
Networking Opportunities
Over the course of three days, selected films-in-progress will be showcased in working copy format to an audience of industry professionals, including producers, buyers, distributors, and festival programmers. These screenings are exclusively available to accredited Industry pass holders. Additionally, on September 2, a full day of individual meetings will allow filmmakers to connect directly with key industry stakeholders.
Awards and Recognition
The program will conclude with the presentation of both in-kind and cash prizes designed to support the post-production phases of the films. For the ninth consecutive year, La Biennale di Venezia will award €5,000 to the best film in post-production, as determined by a jury of three members appointed by the Festival Director. Other awards will be decided in collaboration with supporters of Final Cut in Venice.
