FOX Expands Its Animated Lineup with Renewals

In a significant move for its primetime lineup, FOX has renewed three of its popular animated series: Krapopolis, Grimsburg, and Universal Basic Guys. According to a report from Deadline, these shows, all produced by Bento Box Entertainment, will join the ranks of FOX’s enduring favorites such as Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, The Simpsons, and American Dad, which received four-season renewals back in April. Notably, American Dad, created by Seth MacFarlane, is making a return to its original network after a decade-long run on TBS.

Highlights of the Renewed Series

Krapopolis, crafted by Dan Harmon, is set to conclude its second season on FOX later this month. Premiering in September 2023, this series transports viewers to ancient Greece, where it chronicles the humorous escapades of gods, monsters, and everyday humans. The recent renewal ensures its continuation through a fifth season.

Meanwhile, the freshman series Universal Basic Guys, developed by brothers Adam and Craig Malamut, has already been greenlit for a third season following its initial second-season approval. Additionally, Grimsburg, featuring Jon Hamm, is also set to return for a third season as it wraps up its second on FOX.

The Future of The Great North Remains Uncertain

On a different note, the outlook for The Great North, currently in its fifth season, is still unclear. This series, which boasts a talented cast including Nick Offerman, Jenny Slate, and Will Forte, is produced by Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, Wendy Molyneux, and Minty Lewis. Recently, Eric Schrier, president of Disney TV Studios, shared with Deadline that the show is still under review. “I don’t think FOX has made a final determination on it; it’s another show that we really love. It’d be great for it to continue, but I understand if they’re not able to,” he stated.
