Exciting Developments in the Entertainment Landscape

A new chapter in Tony DiTerlizzi’s innovative sci-fi saga is set to unfold with the launch of Season 2 of WondLa, premiering on Apple TV+ on Friday, April 25. In anticipation of this premiere, Animation Magazine is excited to share an exclusive clip from an upcoming episode. This CG series, produced by Skydance Animation (Luck), is based on DiTerlizzi’s New York Times bestselling series, The Search for WondLa. The show is helmed by animation veteran Bobs Gannaway, who serves as both showrunner and executive producer.

This futuristic coming-of-age narrative follows 16-year-old Eva 9 as she continues her epic journey, uncovering startling truths about her past and the world she inhabits. Picking up from the shocking cliffhanger of Season 1, Eva is drawn towards the promise of home, yet her new discoveries lead to even more unanswered questions. As she seeks the truth, Eva finds herself pursued by a relentless force that believes she holds the key to something far more significant than she ever imagined, forcing her to confront where she truly belongs.

Exclusive Sneak Peek

The exclusive clip features Episode 6, where the Cærulean Rovender (voiced by Gary Anthony Williams) faces an attack from human war bots seeking the heart of the forest. Eva 9 (Jeanine Mason) defies Rovender’s evacuation orders and attempts to lead the war bots away from the villagers while riding Otto (Brad Garrett), alongside new cast member Hailey (John Kim). As the decoys are cornered, Rovender swiftly comes to their rescue, igniting a chase to lure the war bots into the tar pits. In this gripping clip, Rovender’s mount sacrifices itself to save Eva from the tar, leaving their escape hanging by a thread.

Season 2 also features an impressive voice cast, including Alan Tudyk as Cadmus Prime, Teri Hatcher as Eva’s caretaker, and Ana Villafañe as Eva 8. The series is executive produced by Tony DiTerlizzi and Bobs Gannaway, alongside Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, Julie Kane-Ritsch, and Skydance Animation’s John Lasseter, David Ellison, and Dana Goldberg, with production led by Tony Cosanella.
