My Hero Academia: You’re Next Launches on Crunchyroll

The highly anticipated fourth theatrical installment of the beloved anime series, My Hero Academia: You’re Next, is set to make its streaming debut today, Sunday, April 20, at 5 p.m. PT on Crunchyroll (please note that the time may vary). This film, produced by the renowned studio Bones and directed by anime veteran Tensai Okamura, who has an impressive portfolio including The Seven Deadly Sins and Blue Exorcist, had its North American theatrical release through Toho International back in October.

Synopsis

Deku and his fellow classmates from the Hero Course at U.A. High are committed to upholding the legacy of All Might. Following a confrontation with Tomura Shigaraki, a new and enigmatic figure emerges, bearing a striking resemblance to All Might. As the heroes delve deeper, they uncover his sinister intentions, revealing him to be Dark Might. With his Quirk, he constructs a colossal fortress that engulfs everything in its vicinity. It falls to Class 1-A to thwart Dark Might’s plans and safeguard the world!

Under the direction of Okamura, the screenplay is crafted by Yosuke Kuroda. The talented production team features character designers like Yoshihiko Umakoshi, along with animation director and composer Yuki Hayashi, chief animation director Hitomi Odashima, art director Manami Azuta, color designer Kazuko Kikuchi, and directors of photography Mayuko Furumoto and Takashi Sawa. The film’s theme song, “Homunculus,” is performed by Vaundy, who was honored as the Artist of the Year at the MTV Music Video Awards Japan.

The My Hero Academia series is based on the manga by Kohei Horikoshi, who also serves as the general supervisor, original character designer, and original story creator for You’re Next.
