Blackmagic Design has officially added the URSA Cine 12K LF digital film camera to Netflix’s Approved Camera List, as outlined in the streamer’s guidelines for “Cameras and Image Capture: Requirements and Best Practices.” This list specifies the essential technical criteria for cameras, including dynamic range, resolution, codec, and workflow compatibility. Notably, to comply with Netflix’s standards, 90% of a program’s total runtime must be filmed using approved cameras.

The URSA Cine 12K LF joins the ranks of Blackmagic’s existing models on the list, including the URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 and URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF.

This groundbreaking camera signifies a major advancement in digital film technology, merging state-of-the-art features with efficient post-production workflows. It boasts a large-format RGBW 36 x 24mm image sensor with larger photo-sites, providing outstanding dynamic range. The camera is compatible with interchangeable lens mounts such as PL, LPL, EF, and Hasselblad, and includes WiFi with SRT streaming for remote client viewing. Furthermore, it offers built-in high-capacity storage and high-speed networking for on-set media synchronization, along with industry-standard Lemo and Fischer connections, making it ideal for high-end cinematic production.

The Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF is now available for shipping.
