This year’s British Independent Film Award nominations are led by the provocative Irish film Kneecap, which received 14 nominations, including Best Director and Best Screenplay.

Directed by Rich Peppiatt, Kneecap also boasts nominations for Best Debut Screenwriter, Best British Independent Film, and eight categories related to craft, such as Best Casting and Best Cinematography.

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this year and has been selected to represent Ireland in the International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards.
