Get ready for some classic animation! Starting November 2, Mighty Mouse will join the Sunday afternoon lineup on MeTV Toons, the only TV network dedicated to classic animated shows. Mighty Mouse and Friends will air every Sunday from 3 to 5 PM ET/PT.

The lineup will also feature Heckle and Jeckle and other Terrytoons, making their first appearance on broadcast television in decades. This block will include shorts from the Mighty Mouse Playhouse, which originally aired on CBS from 1955 to 1967, as well as the later series Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures, produced by renowned animator Ralph Bakshi from 1987 to 1989.

Viewers can expect to see beloved cartoons such as Mighty Mouse, Heckle and Jeckle, Terry Bears, Mighty Heroes, and Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures. Mighty Mouse first appeared in 1942 as a series of theatrical shorts created by the Terrytoons studio for 20th Century Fox. This superhero mouse quickly became a favorite among Saturday morning cartoon audiences.

In 1987, Ralph Bakshi revitalized the Mighty Mouse franchise, enhancing the production quality compared to other animated series of the time. Animation historian Jerry Beck noted that Bakshi’s version of Mighty Mouse “foreshadowed the higher quality animation boom coming in the next decade.” This series was also one of the first Saturday morning cartoons to be broadcast in stereo.

The Sunday programming schedule for MeTV Toons starting November 2 is as follows (all times ET/PT):

  • 6-7 AM – Inspector Gadget
  • 7-8 AM – Baby Looney Tunes
  • 8-9 AM – Casper and Company
  • 9-10 AM – The Tom and Jerry Show
  • 10-11 AM – The Woody Woodpecker Show
  • 11 AM-12 PM – Popeye and Pals
  • 12-1 PM – Bugs Bunny and Friends
  • 1-3 PM – House of Hanna-Barbera
