Aaron Rodgers is responding to speculation regarding his future in the NFL and his ongoing commitment to the New York Jets.

In a recent interview, Rodgers discussed rumors suggesting he aims to play football in 2025 but not with the Jets.

“I haven’t told anyone, ‘I want to play in 2025 and not with the Jets,’” Rodgers stated on ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show. “That’s completely untrue. I actually said the opposite—I’m going to wait to see what happens at the end of the season and whether they want me back.”

He elaborated, “I’ve genuinely enjoyed my time in New York. Although we haven’t achieved the success we desired, I’ve formed great friendships on the team. I’ve liked living in Jersey, exploring the city, and connecting with the fans. I came here to win, so I’m not abandoning ship by saying, ‘I want to play somewhere else.’”

Rodgers mentioned, “I’m uncertain about my desire to continue playing, but New York would be my first choice.”

The Super Bowl champion noted that he evaluates his career decisions “on a year-to-year basis.”

“Approaching 41, I recognize I’m nearing the end of my career. There are numerous factors; if it’s New York, they need to want me here,” he said. “If I can stay healthy and perform as I wish, and if everyone is comfortable with bringing me back, then a decision can be made. Right now, I am open to all possibilities and not committed to anything.”

Rodgers joined the Jets in 2023 following 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, but injuries have hindered his time with the team. After his debut in Week 1 of the 2023 NFL Season, he played four snaps against the Buffalo Bills before suffering a season-ending Achilles tear.

Recent reports have indicated that Rodgers has been managing several injuries and has declined scans, fearing he might be benched.

“I feel great right now after a week off,” Rodgers said, referencing the Jets’ bye week. “I will not voluntarily go on IR without a legitimate injury. Regarding scans… I’ve played for 20 years; I know my body better than anyone. Additionally, I have a strong relationship with the medical staff, and we’ve had many productive discussions.”

Rodgers confirmed that there have been no obligations for him to undergo a scan and that he has been in conversation with doctors about his symptoms and rehabilitation needs.

The New York Jets have undergone significant changes this season, including the firing of head coach Robert Saleh after Week 5 and general manager Joe Douglas after Week 11.
