Netflix has reportedly acquired the all-language digital streaming rights for ‘AA22xA6’, an upcoming high-budget sci-fi project from Sun Pictures, for a historic ₹600 crore. Directed by blockbuster filmmaker Atlee, the film stars Allu Arjun in a dual role alongside Deepika Padukone, Janhvi Kapoor, and Mrunal Thakur. This record-breaking deal recovers nearly 75% of the film’s reported ₹800–1000 crore budget before its theatrical release.
The production features a world-class crew, including Hollywood VFX experts and music reportedly by Anirudh Ravichander or Sai Abhyankkar. As the primary buyer, Netflix is securing one of the most anticipated “Pan-World” spectacles in Indian cinema history. The film, which explores themes of a parallel universe and four different generations, is currently filming in Mumbai and is expected to complete production in the second half of 2026.
The deal was finalized in late December 2025, positioning Netflix as the dominant digital distributor for the film’s post-theatrical window in 2027. Sun Pictures, led by Kalanidhi Maran, remains the primary seller and producer of the project. This partnership represents a massive leap in the Indian entertainment supply chain, setting a new benchmark for the valuation of digital rights for major star-driven spectacles. (India)
