Mark your calendars! The I’m Migrant Film Festival in London will showcase the acclaimed work of Sudanese director Mohamed Kordofani, presenting Goodbye Julia on Saturday, February 22 at 6:30 pm.

About the Film

Goodbye Julia stars Eiman Yousif, Siran Riak, Nazar Goma, and Ger Duany. This compelling narrative premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival 2024, where it was honored with the prestigious Freedom Prize. Notably, it also represented Sudan in the Best International Film category at the Academy Awards.

Executive Production

Adding to its acclaim, Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o serves as the executive producer of Goodbye Julia.

Storyline Overview

Set against the backdrop of the secessionist movement that led to the establishment of South Sudan in 2011, Goodbye Julia tells the poignant story of Mona, a retired northern Sudanese singer trapped in a strained marriage. Haunted by guilt after concealing a murder, she seeks redemption by welcoming the widow of the deceased, Julia, and her son, Daniel, into her home.

As Mona grapples with her past, she attempts to forge a new life, unaware that the turmoil of her country may soon invade her sanctuary, forcing her to confront her hidden sins.

This film is a testament to international collaboration, featuring co-producers from various backgrounds, including Sudanese, Swedish, German, Saudi, French, and Egyptian talents.
