FireAid Distributes $50 Million in Grants Following Star-Studded Fundraiser

On Tuesday, FireAid announced the distribution of $50 million in grants following its highly successful concert fundraiser. This initiative underscores the power of collaboration in the entertainment industry.

Concerts Raise $100 Million for Fire Relief

The fundraising effort was a joint venture between Live Nation, AEG, and the Azoff Company, featuring two spectacular benefit concerts at the Intuit Dome and Kia Forum in Inglewood. With over 30 artists performing across both venues, the events attracted an impressive 50 million viewers through 28 streaming platforms.

Initial Phase of Funding Kicks Off

The recent allocation of $50 million marks the beginning of the initial funding phase. The nonprofit emphasized that the selected community-based organizations possess the necessary infrastructure, experience, and relationships to effectively and equitably assist those impacted by the fires. Each organization received $100,000 or more to provide immediate relief. Notable recipients include Baby2Baby, various YMCAs, the NAACP of Pasadena, MusiCares Foundation, LAUSD Foundation, CORE, and others.

Support for Individuals Affected by Wildfires

In addition to organizational grants, funding has also been directed towards individuals affected by the wildfires in January. This includes displaced residents, workers, small business owners, and first responders. The focus is on essential services such as food assistance, childcare support, critical healthcare resources, housing support, rental relief, and student assistance programs. The goal is to ensure that victims can easily access legal resources, government benefits, and navigate the often complex paperwork involved in recovery.

Looking Ahead: Phase Two Funding

The first phase of funding is set to conclude by the end of February. Following this, FireAid will roll out phase two, which will focus on additional relief aimed at long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts. The nonprofit is also launching a program for smaller grants ranging from $10,000 to $50,000, further extending its support to those in need.
