Writer Curtis Baxter (known for ‘Ben 10’ and ‘Miles Morales: Spider-Man Annual #1’) has secured the rights to create a series based on Robert Repino‘s sci-fi book series ‘War With No Name.’ Baxter is currently working on a Webtoon series and an eight-episode animated TV show adaptation.
The Webtoon series will follow the story of housecat Sebastian transforming into the assassin Mort(e) during an animal-human war, on a quest to find his lost dog love, Sheba. Early character design concepts for the Webtoon series’ first season, set to premiere in early 2026, have been revealed by artist MuYoung Kim. Kisai Entertainment will handle production.
Baxter expressed his excitement for the project, stating, “Reading the ‘War With No Name’ franchise felt like discovering beloved stories for the first time. I’m thrilled to bring these compelling characters and their world to life for fans worldwide in a new medium.” Author Robert Repino praised Baxter’s storytelling skills, highlighting the emotional depth and realism he brings to narratives.
Baxter, part of Dan Lin‘s Rideback RISE cohort supporting creators of color, has an impressive resume including work on Marvel Comics’ ‘Storm: Lifedream #1’ and ‘Predator: Black, White, and Blood #2,’ as well as projects for Pocket Gems and Ludia Games. He is represented by Siobhan Blanas at The Gotham Group and Chase Turner at Cowan, DeBaets, Abrahams Sheppard LLP.
