Dominican film and audiovisual producer Víctor Dumé, who has produced and directed five documentaries—including La Vida De Adrián Beltré, set to premiere in February or March 2026—and several films, most recently the socially themed comedy Carlota La Más Barrial, is currently in the process of securing distribution for the Latin market.
Carlota La Más Barrial debuted 13 weeks ago in 15 Caribbean Cinema theaters in the Dominican Republic and participated in the 14th Dominican Film Festival in New York, held from October 23 to 28 this year. In the Dominican Republic, the film has been running for 13 weeks, which Dumé describes as “something incredible in distribution.” The film, co-produced by Dukesa Films, La Aldea Estudio, and Mentes Fritas, is an urban comedy that celebrates the courage of a neighborhood living under a single motto: “El barrio unido jamás será vencido” (“The neighborhood united will never be defeated”).
“I’m looking for a distributor who can sell to platforms as well as to broadcast TV. That’s my plan so far, based on what I’ve been discussing. The people at Filmhub liked it because they can put it on their server, and then all the platforms they negotiate with—Netflix, Hulu, Amazon—can access the product without exclusivity,” Dumé explained, clarifying that under this model, Filmhub takes 20% of what the platform pays to exhibit the film.
FILM STUDIO
Another project Dumé is working on is Bávaro Estudio, a film complex that opened nearly eight months ago, “with international standards including film, radio, and digital media studios,” Dumé noted.
He indicated that they have already provided services for productions such as Survivor for Turkey and have produced several music videos on the premises. “I have a fully acoustically treated space. It’s a 185-square-foot studio,” he explained, adding that anyone producing at his facility has access to the beaches of Punta Cana and Samaná “at no cost as long as they work with me.”
Dumé recounted that he worked on drafting the Dominican Republic’s Film Law and creating the country’s first Dominican Association of Film Producers about 15 years ago. “I’ve already done six projects under the Film Law, so I know the process,” he said. He also noted that his line producer, Leidy Peña—who is also his financial producer—independently coordinates the financial production of international projects for the Lantica studio.
He mentioned that Carlota La Más Barrial was an investment of nearly US$850,000, 100% funded by Dominican companies under the Film Law.
DOCUMENTARIES
Dumé has produced and directed five documentaries, including La Vida De Adrián Beltré (90’), which is set to premiere in February or March next year and is currently in the editing stage. Eurípidez Núñez, who lives in the U.S., is the director of the documentary. La Vida De Adrián Beltré was shot in 4K in locations across Texas, New York, Miami, and the Dominican Republic. The project took approximately five years to develop and produce.
For this documentary, Dumé is seeking to negotiate broadcast rights with Major League Baseball (MLB) and release it around the time of the Cooperstown Hall of Fame. Beltré was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 2024.
Other documentaries by Dumé include El Descubrimiento Del Ámbar; El Regreso Del Abismo, alongside legendary diver Pipín Ferreras, set to premiere on Netflix in 2026; and Verón Bávaro, En El Mismo Trayecto Del Sol (90’), exploring how this tourist area will develop in the coming years.
