Leading animation production powerhouse The Hive Studio has officially unveiled its new Greek base, The Hive Greece, in collaboration with Animasyros Productions. This strategic move, based in Athens, aims to harness the talent and resources of the South Mediterranean region, enhancing the local animation industry while paving the way for partnerships and co-productions across Europe.

A Proven Track Record in Animation Excellence

 

The Hive Studio has carved out a reputation as an international creative hub, celebrated for its visually stunning and technically sophisticated animation across various genres. Notably, it produced the Oscar-nominated short film Letter to a Pig. Founded by Oscar-nominated producer Amit Russell Gicelter (known for Black Slide and Butterfly Kiss), the studio is committed to pushing the boundaries of animated storytelling.

Animasyros Productions: A Key Player in Greek Animation

 

Based in Athens, Animasyros Productions is the driving force behind the Animasyros International Animation Festival, the largest festival of its kind in Greece. This partnership is set to elevate the local animation scene significantly.

Collaborative Successes and Future Projects

 

The two companies have already joined forces on several projects, including the acclaimed short film P, directed by Stelios Koupetoris and co-produced with the Greek Film Center. P recently won the ASIFA-Hellas Award for Best Screenplay and has been showcased at prestigious festivals such as the Drama International Short Film Festival and the Tirana International Film Festival.

The Hive Greece is poised to collaborate with local talent, enhancing the region’s presence in the global animation market. With a focus on creating internationally relevant stories that transcend cultural boundaries, as well as producing original Greek content, The Hive Greece aims to establish new partnerships with European production companies, leveraging a 40% rebate on foreign investment.

In addition to production, the Greek branch will offer a range of animation-focused courses for emerging talent, kicking off with the newly launched Toon Boom masterclass.
