Cloud video provider MediaKind (USA) has reached a definitive agreement to acquire the video business of Harmonic Inc. for approximately $145 million. The deal, announced on December 8, 2025, creates a premier independent SaaS streaming infrastructure provider with over $100 million in annual recurring revenue. The merger combines Harmonic’s strong video SaaS portfolio with MediaKind’s appliance platforms, aiming to accelerate innovation across their shared research and development centers.
MediaKind CEO Allen Broome stated the combination represents a meaningful step in providing enhanced product solutions and operational stability for their blue-chip customer base. Harmonic CEO Nimrod Ben-Natan noted the sale allows his company to focus on its core broadband segment while ensuring the video business continues to grow under a dedicated organization. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2026, pending customary regulatory approvals and employee consultations.
This acquisition significantly impacts the global media supply chain by consolidating two major players in the cloud AV workload space. The combined entity will focus 100% on video infrastructure, offering customers a more reliable partner for large-scale streaming and broadcast delivery. By aligning their cloud-neutral strategies, the companies plan to roll out new features more quickly to meet the evolving demands of the global video market. (USA)
