Apple TV has greenlit the dramedy series “Beat the Reaper”, with BAFTA Award winner and Emmy nominee Will Poulter (Black Mirror, The Bear) set to star and serve as executive producer.
Based on the novel by Josh Bazell, the series follows Dr. Peter Brown, an intern at Boston’s most challenging hospital. Brown is skilled in medicine but is haunted by a dangerous past he’s desperate to keep secret. When a patient recognizes him, he has just eight hours to outmaneuver government agents, mob hitmen, questionable surgeons, and a trail of dead gangsters in a race against time.
Sam Catlin (Sugar, Preacher, Breaking Bad) will serve as showrunner and executive producer under his overall deal with Apple TV. The series is a co-production between Apple Studios and New Regency, with Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, and Natalie Lehmann executive producing for New Regency.
