Saudi Arabia is set to host a new international video game conference called Kingdom of Gaming in Riyadh from December 1 to December 3, 2026. The event is organized in part by the Events Investment Fund (EIF), which was established by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
According to organizers, Kingdom of Gaming aims to become a global platform that brings together developers, studios, and investors to help shape the future of the gaming industry. The event is designed to support the growth of a high-quality game development ecosystem in both Saudi Arabia and the wider Global South.
The inaugural conference will be held alongside Black Hat MEA 2026, a major cybersecurity event. Organizers expect to welcome over 20,000 guests, with participation from 300 exhibitors and sponsors and 500 studios and developers.
Kingdom of Gaming is being launched by Tahaluf, a joint venture that includes Informa (parent company of Game Developer), the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming and Drones, and the Events Investment Fund. Sela, an event production company owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), will also be involved.
The EIF was created in 2023 by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who also serves as chairman of the PIF. The PIF is currently part of a consortium seeking to acquire Electronic Arts (EA) for $55 billion. If successful, the PIF would own 93.4 percent of the U.S.-based publisher of the Battlefield franchise.
Saudi Arabia’s significant investments in the video game sector have attracted international attention and criticism, particularly due to Crown Prince bin Salman’s reported links to the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi and ongoing concerns about human rights in the country.
