Pink Parrot Media partners with Tistou animated feature for global distribution, excluding France and Benelux. The film, based on a classic children’s novel, is set for release in 2028 and aims to inspire environmental awareness in young audiences.
Montreal/Madrid-based Pink Parrot Media has partnered with the upcoming CG-animated feature Tistou, based on Maurice Druon’s classic children’s novel Tistou les Pouces Verts (Tistou the Green Thumb). The film, co-produced by France’s Finalement and Belgium’s Walking The Dog, is currently in development and scheduled for release in 2028.
Pink Parrot Media will manage global distribution rights, except for France and Benelux, and will present the project to potential buyers at the American Film Market (AFM) in Los Angeles (Nov. 11–16). Initially introduced at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, where it received a Mifa Pitch Award, Tistou is aimed at family audiences and children aged 6–12.
The film, written and directed by Amandine Taffin, tells the story of an imaginative eight-year-old boy who discovers his unique ability to make plants grow wherever he touches with his thumbs, bringing both wonder and chaos to his industrial hometown. Producers include William Picot (Finalement), Eric Goossens, and Anton Roeben (Walking The Dog), with Pink Parrot’s Tania Pinto Da Cunha and Marie Claude Beauchamp serving as executive producers.
In a statement, Tania Pinto Da Cunha expressed, “Tistou is a beloved tale that has inspired generations of children about environmental awareness and using one’s talents for good. Its themes are more relevant than ever.”
During AFM, Pink Parrot will also present other upcoming titles like Lotte Totte, MoMonsters: The Movie, Unstable, and The Bottanix, expanding its portfolio of family animations.
